Our

Leadership

For many years Pastors Robert and Aminga Maxie have been praying about the calling God had on their lives. Several years ago God planted a seed in their hearts to begin a church in Baton Rouge. Seeing the need in the Mid-City community, their hearts were broken. By early 2018 God opened the doors to begin Liberty Church BR church plant. Following the direction of God, they stepped out in faith and began meeting with a small launch team.

By mid 2018 Liberty Church BR had grown to almost 39 members, holding services every Sunday at the local community center on North Sherwood Forest Blvd in Baton Rouge as well as a weekly in-house bible studies. In July 2018 services began in the LRCE building on Florida Blvd in mid-city Baton Rouge. Liberty Church held its first official launch service October 29th 2018.

Liberty Church BR has hosted weekly outreaches at the Baton Rouge Treatment Center as well as monthly outreaches at O’Brien House sober living facility. We also hold monthly community focused outreaches in connection with other local ministries, such as Church on The Levee.

In early 2020, Liberty Church settled in to Mid-City Baton Rouge at their current location on Florida Blvd.

In February 2021, Liberty Recovery was birthed and meets every Friday night with dinner served at 6:30 PM. Recovery Ministry is something very dear to Liberty Church and something we hope to grow in the following years.

Our mission statement goes so much deeper than just a statement, it’s the way we live. We are a church that teaches the healing power of love and the freedom found through grace while equipping the community for generations to come. We are more than just a church… It’s a Movement!
